Hi all,

I will be moving to Dubai in the next 4 weeks with my 14week old baby.. First of all, I was just wondering if Aptamil comfort is available in Dubai also is it safe to use tap water for feeds.
I will need to get my little one registered at a hospital as soon as i arrive..which hospital wud be best for babies? Also is it safe to bring babies out in the heat?

Looking forward to hearing from you guys soon..

Thank you

Hi, hope your move to Dubai goes well...we just moved here 2 weeks ago and all is fine so far.
Regarding the milk... The supermarket called Choithrams sells Aptimil.
Other supermarkets and Carrefour stock SMA and a local brand which I haven't tried.
I have been using the tap water but making sure I boil it in the kettle to fill up the bottles.

Hope this helps a little bit.
Helen.

Hi Sherry,

I hope your move goes well!! I moved out here inSeptember with my baby boy, he is now 7 months and has loved being here so far. I have found the supermarket Spinneys really good for baby milk and foods, you will pretty much be able to find everything you need here!!

As for the heat, it is now cooling down, so it is much easier to go out for walks etc...my son is quite happy in a vest and sun hat, with lots of sun cream!! When we arrived it was around 45-48 degrees every day, that was really hot for him having come from Scotland!! Hence I just made sure he was never outside for too long and I gave him cooled boiled water in between very feed. We use bottled water as I am not so sure about the tap water...the smell to me is not fantastic. We have canisters of water at the house which we have delivered every week for drinking and cooking with.

I really wish you all the best with your move!!

Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for all the info.. I have lived in the middle east before but never with a baby so absolutely dreading the move. My son was born 10 weeks early so doctors have advised to be very carefull with water, heat etc. If you dont mind me asking, what brand bottled water and suncream are you using for your wee boy? Did he get any travel vaccines before u left scotland? Also, do you know of any good hospitals/doctors where I could get him registered just incase he gets sick plus he will still have to get his vaccines!

Sorry about all the questions! Cant wait to get away from the miserable weather here!!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Sharon.

Hi Sherry,

I am also Irish and living in Dubai about 18/19 months. I moved here when my daughter was 7months in the peak of the summer sun, I used the Nivea Sun for Kids 50+ (although I keep her out of the sun as much as possible). When we moved here my daughter was also on aptimal and as a pervious poster said its available in Spinneys and Gaent, I always use bottle water (even for cooking), I wouldnt like to take the chance where my child is concerned.

I am assuming at this stage you have made the move, how are you finding Dubai? If I can help in anyway please do not hesitate to contact me.
